Due to security restrictions on aeroplanes, passengers may only carry small quantities of liquids. The general rule is that liquids must be in separate containers each no larger than 100ml that can fit inside the clear plastic bag supplied by security. They should also be in the original container and clearly marked amounts in them.
If you have essential medicines and require more than 100ml for the period of the trip you must seek prior agreement from the airline and the airport to carry them in your hand luggage. You must also bring written proof, such as a letter from your doctor, to say what the liquid is.
The Directgov website has more detailed information about these restrictions.
