Wigs can be very important to someone who has a form of alopecia (no hair on the head and/or the rest of the body). It can result in a feeling of loss and /or an altered body image which a wig may help to overcome.
Alopecia as a result of chemotherapy is usually only short term (the hair does grow back after a time when treatment is completed). Alopecia as a result of radiotherapy can be more permanent. Limited supplies of wigs are available through the NHS scheme and you can discuss this with your oncologist or chemotherapy team.
