Why run for Dorothy House?
Dorothy House Hospice Care helps over 1,500 families affected by cancer, motor neurone disease and other life threatening conditions every year, either in their own homes or at the hospice in Winsley, near Bath. To ensure that patients have the best quality of life possible, Dorothy House provides pain and symptom relief, respite for carers, emotional and spiritual support and day care.
This year, we need £3 million to maintain our services at the current level. Dorothy House Hospice Care receives only about 30 per cent of its funding from the NHS, and the hospice depends on the generosity of local people. By taking part and being sponsored in any (or all!) of these events you can help Dorothy House to continue Caring when it counts.

2010 Bath Half Marathon - Sunday 7th Match 2010
We are delighted to announce that Dorothy House is the lead charity for the 2010 Bath Half Marathon. We have a number of Golden Bond places available for this race.

2010 London Marathon - Sunday 25 April 2010
The public online ballot was full within 24 hours of this year's race! Runners will be notified if they have a place around the end of September/beginning of October. Dorothy House has five golden bond places. If you are interested in going on the waiting list, please contact our marathon co-ordinator Phillippa Watson by emailing her:pwatson@dorothyhouse-hospice.org.uk or call 01225 721480. There is no entry fee for the London Marathon golden bond places but runners are expected to raise a minimum of £1,500 in sponsorship.

If you are signed up for an event that isn't listed, you can still join Team Dotty and raise money for Dorothy House. Let us know what the event is, and when and where it is taking place, and we'll send you some sponsorship forms and a T-shirt.
What is a Golden Bond?
A Golden Bond is a place that Dorothy House has bought in an event such as the Bath Half Marathon. We then sell these places to people on a first-come first-served basis who are willing to run for Dorothy House, in return for a pledge to raise a minimum amount of money for the charity. This amount is set by the race organisers, not by the charity.
People who have their own place in any race are welcome to run in aid of Dorothy House, and there is no minimum amount of sponsorship to be raised.
