The Dorothy House catering team provides well-balanced meals designed to encourage appetites and build strength. The team members are proud to have achieved a 5 star hygiene award. The chefs are always keen to receive feedback and visitors may on occasion be asked to complete an evaluation form.
Visitors are welcome to purchase a hot or cold lunch from the selection available in the dining room between 12.00pm and 12.45pm (Monday – Friday). Choose one or two courses from the menu in the dining room and purchase a meal ticket from the ward clerk in the In-Patient Unit or from Main Reception. Then write your name and choice of food in the blue folder in the dining room.
Most visitors use the dining room for their meals, however the ward staff will be happy to allow you to join the patient in their room, if this is what the patient prefers. You will need to check this with the patient you are visiting and the in-patient unit nursing staff.
Outside lunch time, the dining room remains open for self-service hot drinks and light snacks. We would ask you to make a donation towards these costs (a pot is found next to the hot water urn).
In addition, there is a vending machine offering confectionary and snacks near the entrance to the In-Patient Unit.
If you would like to send a message to our catering team, they can be contacted by email [email protected] or via the main switchboard 01225 722988 during normal office hours.
Grounds
Visitors are welcome to spend time in our gardens with panoramic views over the Limpley Stoke valley. The pathways are easily accessible for wheelchair users. Seating is available at various points around the grounds. There is also a children’s play area and a Boules pitch for use of those visiting or for patients under supervision.

The hospice is in the process of installing wi-fi for our in-patients to enable easier access to the internet, should this be desired, for those unable to leave their beds and/or chairs. However we provide free access to the internet and our own information A-Z in the outpatient wing. Should you need help to access this a member of staff from the reception team will be able to help you
