Dorothy House is situated in Winsley, a village six miles to the south east of Bath. Winsley lies on the B3108, between the A36 and Bradford on Avon.
In accordance with our green transport plan all visitors to Dorothy House are encouraged to use public transport or car share where possible.
From Bath
Take the A36 towards Warminster for approximately 4 miles. At the Viaduct traffic lights, turn left on to the B3108 signposted Winsley and Bradford on Avon. Follow the road for approx. 1.5 miles, going under a railway bridge and up a steep hill. Shortly after the road levels out take a right turn into Limpley Stoke Road, signposted for Dorothy House, Turleigh and Winsley. Take second right, at the side of the high stone wall surrounding Dorothy House and turn left into the car park.
From the South
After joining the A36, travel towards Bath. Continue along the A36 until traffic lights at the junction of the B3108 (approx. 4 miles from central Bath). Turn right on to the B3108 signposted Winsley and Bradford on Avon. Follow the road for approx. 1.5 miles, going under a railway bridge and up a steep hill. Shortly after the road levels out take a right turn into Limpley Stoke Road, signposted for Dorothy House, Turleigh and Winsley. Take second right, at the side of the high stone wall surrounding Dorothy House and turn left into the car park.
From the M4 (Travelling from West/M5)
Leave the M4 at J18, taking the A46 towards Bath. After approx. 6 miles the road becomes dual carriageway and shortly after take lane marked for Chippenham and Bradford on Avon (do not turn off for Bath). Continue until end of dual carriageway, (which has become A4) until roundabout. Take 3rd exit at roundabout on to the A363, under the railway bridge, towards Bradford on Avon. Follow the A363 for approximately 4.5 miles until you enter Bradford on Avon. At the mini-roundabout turn right on to the B3108, Winsley Road. Continue on Winsley Road for 1.3 miles until roundabout. At the roundabout take 2nd exit on to the Winsley by-pass and continue for approximately 1 mile and take left turn into Limpley Stoke Road, signposted for Dorothy House, Turleigh and Winsley. Take second right, at the side of the high stone wall surrounding Dorothy House and turn left into the car park.
From the M4 (Travelling from the East)
Leave the M4 at J17, taking the A350 towards Chippenham. Follow the A350 for approx. 5.5 miles, through a number of roundabouts, until you reach the roundabout with the junction of the A4. Take the fourth exit on to the A4 towards Bath. Continue on the A4 for 2.8 miles and bear left on to the B3109 towards Bradford on Avon. (This turning is shortly after 2 mini roundabouts just past Pickwick). Continue on B3109 for approx. 6 miles (going straight across traffic lights at Five Ways junction), until reaching traffic lights on the outskirts of Bradford on Avon where you will see the Leigh Park Hotel diagonally to your right. Turn right on to the B3015/Leigh Road for approximately half a mile until you reach the A363. Turn sharp left towards Bradford on Avon and travel for approximately half a mile until you reach a mini roundabout and turn right on to the B3108/Winsley Road. Continue on Winsley Road for 1.3 miles until roundabout. Take the second exit on to the Winsley by-pass and continue for approximately 1 mile and take left turn into Limpley Stoke Road, signposted for Dorothy House, Turleigh and Winsley. Take second right, at the side of the high stone wall surrounding Dorothy House and turn left into the car park.
By Train
The nearest stations are in Bath (6 miles) and Bradford-on-Avon (2 miles). From here, Winsley may be reached by taxi or by bus.
By Bus
From Bath: 265 to Warminster. From Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge: 265 to Bath. Visit the First Bus Website and search for 265 for up-to-date timetables. First Somerset & Avon Limited reserve the right to change these services.
By Taxi
From Bath, taxis should be available on the station forecourt outside the main entrance to the train station. From Bradford-on-Avon, Ashley Cabs (01225 868111) have an office at Bradford-on-Avon station. From Trowbridge, A & D Cabs (01225 755675) operate from the Station Approach.
