Care Education for Nursing, Residential Home and Domicillary
Care staff

We are
pleased to work with organisations to design �tailor-made�
programmes and workshops to meet specific needs.
GP
Education and Support
�
Through close working with the GPs and the Post-Graduate
Medical Centre, an on-going development programme
for GPs, registrars and principals is offered including
an opportunity for a week�s placement for local G.P
registrars.
� A GP Registrars� Introductory Day to Palliative
Care and Dorothy House Hospice Care is held twice
a year.
� An out-of-hours palliative care directory
and a newsletter for primary health care teams supports
the education of medical colleagues.

Higher
Education and accredited Palliative Care courses
There is
the opportunity to study for the course �Care of the
Dying Patient and their Family�, which takes place
each year starting in September for 12 weeks. Accredited
through the University of the West of England it offers
20 credits at Diploma level and 30 credits at Degree
level.
An outreach
team based approach to learning in palliative care
The Principles of Palliative Care �Sticky Moments�
is accredited by the University of Gloucester and
offers 20 credits at Diploma level.

Placements
Dorothy
House offers the opportunity for student, hospital
and district nurses, medical students, physiotherapists,
occupational therapists, clergy, social workers and
other health and social care professionals to spend
time at the hospice through one day or short term
placements.
