Being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness should not mean that ‘normal’ life grinds to a halt, but most people need help to deal with the consequences of such a diagnosis.
At Dorothy House, we work as a team to provide care and support, free of charge, to those who need it. Our trained volunteers are also an important part of the team, both at the hospice in Winsley and out in the community.
Life-threatening illnesses affect everyone differently. Some people experience pain and physical symptoms; others may find their main worries are financial or emotional. At Dorothy House, we listen to you, find out your particular needs and provide a service tailored to you as an individual. We look after the emotional, social and spiritual aspects of your care, as well as your physical needs.
The Services area of the Dorothy House website aims to give you a general introduction to all our patient services, as well as answering some of the questions you may have about Dorothy House Hospice Care and what it means to you.
