The Tulip Fund

Remembering someone you love

Many of us need to find something positive to focus on to help us deal with grief and loss after the death of a loved one. Recognising this need, Dorothy House Hospice Care has introduced the tulip fund, as a way of remembering someone special and supporting the continuing care given to patients and their families.

A tulip fund is set up in the name of the person you wish to honour and remember. Friends, relatives and colleagues can make donations to the fund at any time, and the fund is kept open as long as you wish it to continue.

People may wish to make a single donation, a regular gift or even arrange or participate in a fundraising event in memory of a loved one. All these gifts will go into the named tulip fund, and we will keep you updated on its progress.

The fund can provide a focus for celebrating the memory of your loved one while at the same time raising money so we can continue to provide free nursing care to those who need it.

How a Tulip Fund has helped Sue Edwards' family

My son James was tragically killed in a car accident on March 22nd 2007, he was 27. In his memory we have set up the James Eyers Memorial Fund. We raise monies for the local hospice to where James lived which is Dorothy House Hospice Care based in Bradford on Avon, it covers the Bath and surrounding areas, offering help and support to those with a terminal illness or long term illness.

To date we have raised over £60,000 having held auctions, annual quiz, Team Eyers - James’s younger brother, James’s fiancé and some of James’s friends, run the Bath Half Marathon. This year Andrew, James’s youngest brother will, with one of Andrew’s friends, be running the London Marathon, they are hoping to raise £4,000.
