Walking through grief

Open to the community

Walking Through Grief is another group we offer that’s open for anyone in the community who has been bereaved.  Each walk is supported by two experienced volunteer walk leaders from our Bereavement Team. We meet at various locations, and offer a variety of gentle guided walks through the Wiltshire countryside.

Alongside the therapeutic benefits of walking, there is the opportunity for conversation and sharing with others who are also bereaved. Our Walking Through Grief walks are suitable for all levels of fitness and there’s always time to share a hot drink at the end.

Sue Saker’s Walking Through Grief Journey

Susan Saker lost her husband, Richard, to prostate cancer in May 2022. In the last days of his life, Dorothy House’s Hospice at Home team was there to support them both, allowing Richard the comfort of dying at home. Dorothy House provided all the equipment needed for Sue to support Richard until the end and their bereavement counselling team has been there to support Sue in the days following his death.
