
Some illnesses, such as cancer, can lead to mild, moderate or even significant changes to our external appearance. Many treatments (including surgery and radiotherapy) can help reduce these changes but this is not always possible. This may have a profound effect on the way in which an individual sees themselves (their body image is altered).
