Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance are two of the most important social security benefits in the UK. The Benefits and Health Information Service web site provides comprehensive information about Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance.

Radar is a national organisation to help those with a disability. They have a membership of over 900 organisations who work with /look after those with a disability.

The National Federation of Shopmobility UK (NFSUK) is an independent registered charity, which aims to achieve equal access and independence of disabled people by encouraging new Shopmobility Schemes to form throughout the UK, Channel Islands, Republic of Ireland and overseas and continuing support for existing Shopmobility schemes.

The Blue Badge Scheme provides a range of parking concessions for people with severe mobility problems who have difficulty using public transport. The badge enables holders to park close to where they need to go. The scheme operates throughout the UK, and is administered by local authorities who deal with applications and issue badges.

There are many items of equipment that offer practical solutions to problems of daily living.
