Stairs

If you are having a problem climbing stairs, here are some tips:

Try going up leading with your stronger leg and down leading with your weaker leg.
Having someone walk behind you on the way up and in front of you on the way down may make you feel safer.
Your community Occupational Therapist (OT) will be able to advise you whether an additional stair rail or even a stairlift is needed. Your GP or District Nurse will be able to refer you to the community OT service.
If you need to obtain your own stairlift, be aware that it is cheaper and more convenient to hire one rather than to buy.
