It’s said that ‘age is just a number’, but 40 is generally regarded as a bit of a milestone, and not always a good one! However Guy Douglas, owner of The Silver Shop, who turns 40 this week, has decided to put this number to good use…
Guy has decided to donate 40% of the day’s takings in the shop on Saturday 14 March to Dorothy House.
Guy said, “My hair’s gone a lot greyer than most of my friends, and this birthday confirms that I am indeed getting older! So, it seems like a good idea to turn this into a positive and support a charity of which we, as a shop, are big fans.”
It’s an ideal opportunity to visit the shop and choose some jewellery for yourself or as gift, and for every £1 you spend, they will donate 40p to Dorothy House.
Guy added, “We hope people come into the shop on Saturday and help to raise as much as possible.” Dorothy House provides compassionate caring for our community, supporting people with life-limiting illness, to live well and die well. They want to ensure that the very best care is provided wherever and whenever it is needed. Services provided by Dorothy House in the community and at the hospice are provided free of charge and with equal access to all.
In partnership with all others involved, the hospice focuses on quality of life, respecting the uniqueness of each person and their family. They seek to promote the development of palliative care through education of others and research. However, the Hospice depends on the generosity of local people and businesses to make donations so that they can continue to provide for the community.
Phillippa Watson from Dorothy House said, “We are thrilled by this expression of support for the hospice. We wish Guy Douglas a wonderful 40th birthday. It’s fabulous that such a long-established business, known throughout the Bath community is offering such a generous gift. We hope that you will show your support for your local silver shop and Hospice on Saturday 14 March.”
The Silver Shop of Bath is located at 25 Union Passage.
