The Dorothy House Advice Line is available for external professionals and Dorothy House patients, their families and carers who require immediate medical and/or care advice. It is run by qualified, experienced registered nurses 24 hours a day from our In-patient Unit. These nurses also have access to specialist medical advice from our own doctors on call 24 hours per day.
Generally when the nurse answering your call has listened to your problem they will advise you to a) either contact a doctor or nurse who knows you or b) give you advice to help with your problem and will encourage you to ring again if you need further advice. .
During office hours (Monday -Friday 9-5) we recommend that you contact a professional who is familiar with you and your medical history. This may be your GP, a District Nurse or your Dorothy House Specialist Nurse.
